JAY BEAGLE - BIO
Jay Beagle's hockey journey began in Calgary, where he played community hockey, primarily with the Symons Valley Minor Hockey Association. His early promise led him to join the North East Athletic Association, where he celebrated winning the Air Canada Cup with the AAA Northstars. From 2003 to 2005, Beagle played for the Calgary Royals of the AJHL, a stint that earned him a scholarship to the University of Alaska Anchorage. He spent two years there before embarking on his professional career with the Idaho Steelheads in Boise, Idaho.
Beagle's professional hockey career spanned an impressive 16 years, including 13 years in the NHL with the Washington Capitals, Vancouver Canucks, and Arizona Coyotes. He boasts an illustrious record of four championship victories: one Kelly Cup in the ECHL with the Idaho Steelheads, two Calder Cups with the Hershey Bears in the AHL, and a Stanley Cup triumph with the Washington Capitals.
Having recently retired from the NHL, Jay Beagle has always harbored a deep passion for nurturing young athletes, focusing not only on their skills in the game but also on their development as individuals. He has been actively involved in hockey camps for the last eight years, volunteering with various non-profit organizations like Hockey Ministries International, Crossover Sports, and Youth Unlimited. Beagle's commitment to growing the game of hockey and giving back to the community reflects his dedication to the sport that has enriched his life significantly.
SCOTT FUKAMI - BIO
Scott Fukami, a native of Taber, Alberta, began his hockey journey in the minor leagues and AAA divisions of both Taber and Lethbridge. A proud alumnus of the WHL, Fukami's playing career extended internationally, with significant stints in Sweden's Division I, Japan's Ice Hockey League, and with the University of Calgary in the Canadian Intercollegiate Athletic Union (CIAU, now USports).
In his coaching career, Fukami has demonstrated a profound ability to develop talent across various levels, working with both male and female players from Peewee (U13) to Midget AAA (U18 AAA). His experience includes contributing to teams like Crowchild, Simons Valley, NWCAA, Girls Hockey Calgary, Edge School, and CNHA.

TYSON SOLOSKI - BIO
Tyson Soloski grew up in Cochrane, Alberta, where he played his minor hockey through the AA/AAA stream. His love for the game continued after minor hockey, leading him to play four seasons of junior hockey. Following this, he decided to pursue a path in coaching.
Heading into his second season with CIHA, Tyson Soloski will be our 2024-25 U18 head coach! In his first year in the organization, he led our U17 team to capturing the 2024 CSSHL U17 Prep Championship, the first in CIHA’s history! Prior to his time with CIHA, he spent three seasons as the head coach of Airdrie Xtreme U15 AAA in the AEHL.
GORD BALDWIN - BIO
Gord Baldwin, most recently part of the coaching team at the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL, transitioned into coaching after an impressive eight-year professional playing career that included 507 pro games.
Baldwin's playing journey saw him spend five seasons in the AHL and three in Europe. His career was highlighted by a championship victory with the Sheffield Steelers of the Elite Ice Hockey League in England. During his time in Sheffield, he also earned his MBA from the University of Sheffield. Notably, he played under several well-respected coaches, including Willie Desjardins, Jim Playfair, Jared Bednar, and Ryan McGill. Gord was selected in the third round, 69th overall, by the Calgary Flames in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. His WHL tenure with the Medicine Hat Tigers was marked by a WHL Championship win in 2007.
Following his professional hockey career, Gord Baldwin has been dedicated to guiding young athletes, focusing on developing aspiring hockey players to achieve their fullest potential both on and off the ice.
WOOJE SUNG - BIO
Wooje Sung is heading into his second season as a head coach with CIHA, most recently coaching our U18 group in 2023-24. In 2022-23, Wooje was an assistant coach with our U18 program and also was an assistant coach at the Alberta Cup, working with Team Alberta Red. Prior to joining CIHA, he spent several years as an assistant coach at Edge, working with U15 and U17 teams.
MIKE DERENZIS - BIO
Mike DeRenzis is entering into his first season with CIHA, being named our U17 head coach earlier this summer. He brings a wealth of experience to Calgary, most recently coaching the Oakville Rangers U16 AAA club to first in the West in the OMHA with a 31-1-2 regular season record and capturing the OHL Cup Championship!
DAVID MARCOUX - BIO
David Marcoux is the former goaltending coach for the Carolina Hurricanes (2014 to 2017) and former goaltending coach for the Calgary Flames (2003 to 2009). Marcoux was part of Hockey Canada POE Goaltending summer development camps. He is also a member of the NHLCA & a writer for NHL.com
David has his Master’s degree in Sports Science (Biomechanics & Sports psychology) from the U of Sherbrooke, Qc.
He has more than 25 years of experience working with goaltenders at all levels of hockey. His specialized goalie instruction gives goaltenders the technical, tactical and mental training needed to excel at Elite levels & pro hockey. During his tenure in Calgary with the Flames, goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff led the team to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2004 (Hart Trophy finalist) & followed it up with a Vezina Trophy and Williams Jennings Trophy during the 2005-2006 season. Marcoux has worked with many NHL goalies (Curtis Joseph, Anton Khudobin, Cam Ward, Brian Boucher, Curtis McElhinney, Jeff Deslauriers, Alex Nedeljkovic, and Eddy Lack.
Marcoux also supervises many WHL goalies including Vancouver Canucks 2022 5th rd pick Ty Young (WHL, PG Cougars).
David is in his 4th year as assistant coach/Goaltending coach with IHA.
DMSG works mostly out of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. (Summer Camps, Goalie clinics & Private sessions).
ELIE BOUKA - BIO
Elie Bouka possesses extensive knowledge in strength & conditioning, speed development, and overall movement. He holds a belief that coaching transcends beyond merely writing programs; it's about forging deeper connections with athletes and supporting them in all aspects of their lives.
As the founder of Bouka Performance & Wellness, Elie integrates his comprehensive understanding of athletic performance with a holistic approach to wellness.
A former USPORTS Canada West All-Star, All Canadian, NFL, and CFL player for the Calgary Stampeders, Elie Bouka's athletic journey is both diverse and impressive. A graduate of the University of Calgary, he is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). His commitment to continuous learning is evident as he currently pursues a Masters in Counseling Psychology.
Chloe Puddifant - BIO
We’re proud to welcome Chloe Puddifant to the CIHA family! Chloe played five years of college hockey, starting at Dartmouth College, completing her undergraduate degree at St. Lawrence University and earning her master's at Robert Morris University. Chloe is a 2x ACHA All-American Scholar and is excited to begin her first year of coaching!
Sean McGovern - BIO
Entering into his first season at CIHA, we’re proud to announce Sean McGovern will be an assistant coach with our U18 program in 2024-25! Sean joins us from the AEHL, where he spent two seasons working with the Calgary Flames U17 squad and Calgary Buffaloes U18 team as an assistant coach! Prior to entering into coaching, he had a lengthy playing career which saw him make stops in Germany, France, Sweden, and Spain!
Dylan Olsen - BIO
We’re proud to welcome former pro Dylan Olsen to the CIHA family, who will be an assistant coach with our U17 program this season! A former first round pick of the Chicago Blackhawks, Dylan’s lengthy pro career saw him appear in the NHL, AHL, ECHL, and play pro overseas in England and Slovakia! He recently was the head coach of the Airdrie Stars U18 Prep team.
Connor Rankin - BIO
We’re proud to welcome Connor Rankin to the CIHA family, who will be an assistant coach with our U17 program in 2024-25! The former player spent his junior career in the WHL, suiting up for the Tri-City Americans and Calgary Hitmen, and also spent several years at the USports level, playing for Mount Royal! He is now a member of the Calgary Flames Data and Analytics department and recently was the assistant coach of the Calgary Northstars U17 AAA team.
Mitch Ferguson - BIO
We’re proud to welcome Mitch Ferguson to the CIHA family! He will be an assistant coach with our U15 program in 2024-25! Mitch has a lengthy playing resume, with time spent in the CSSHL, BCHL, AJHL, NCAA, and overseas with Ligue Magnus! He helped SUNY-Geneseo to the NCAA III Championship in the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons and was also named the All-Tournament Team both years and was the NCAA III All-Tournament MVP in 2018-19!
Ben Lau - BIO
We’re proud to announce Ben Lau has joined CIHA as our head of athletic therapy. A graduate of the University of Calgary and Mount Royal University, he is an expert at injury assessment and rehabilitation. Ben will work diligently to ensure our players long-term health is cared for in the best possible manner.
Moe Jamal - BIO
We’re proud to announce Moe Jamal will be returning to CIHA in 2024-25 as our GM and COO! Entering into his second season with the organization, he helped CIHA make big strides in 2023-24, including seeing the U17 Prep team win the CSSHL Championship for the first time in club history!
